Job Description
As a member of Apicells Inc, the Sales Engineer will operate as a key member of the Sales team on the West Coast. The Sales Engineer is expected to articulate both the technical benefits of the APIcells  portfolio as well as the business value that can be recognized by implementing the APIcells biotech portfolio in its sales territory.The Sales Engineer is expected to identify opportunities that deliver immediate business value for new prospects.
The Sales Engineer is also responsible for assisting in the identification of potential new applications of APIcells core technologies and technologies from partner within existing accounts to support further penetration of accounts beyond the initial sales opportunity.The Sales Engineer will be involved in the pre-sales efforts both preparing and delivering technical presentations, preparing RFP/RFI responses, proposal development assistance, competitive analysis, and special internal projects.  The Sales Engineer will be expected to author or review whitepapers and technical notes, when required, that are appropriate for viewing by both prospects and existing customers. The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying and communicating both the technical and business requirements that are driving opportunities.
Further, the Senior Sales Engineer will be responsible for gathering technical and business requirements that are required to prepare feature requests to be acted upon by Product Management. The Sales Engineer will provide project scoping as part of the pre-sales process.  Scoping will include internal reviews with Product Management and Implementation as well as external reviews with Prospects.  Once an opportunity is closed, the Senior Sales Engineer will manage the account handoff process to implementation. The Sales Engineer will be assigned a group of US customers for which he/she will be the primary sales support contact.The Sales Engineer will support all sales in the Western US, primarily the Bay Area, LA, and San Diego It is expected that this position will be required to travel 50% of the time.  Some international travel will be required and the successful candidate must be eligible for international travel (have passport, no travel restrictions).

Desired Skills & Experience

The applicant will have extensive experience in bioprocessing especially for mammalian cell culture processes. This role requires in depth understanding of  bioreactor operations and principles of biochemical engineering, fermentation, mammalian cell culture metabolism/physiology and process data analysis, and previous experience in a cGMP environment is a plus. Hands-on experience with bioreactors and process development experience are highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and sales projects is a must.

Documentation (technical memos and reports, etc.,) related to sales projects.

Leadership of/participation in cross functional initiatives

BS in fermentation or engineering with at least 5+ years, or MS in engineering with at least 3+ years experience with fermentation/mammalian cell culture.
